DOH: PH still categorized as low risk for COVID-19, but uptick in new cases seen

Published July 23, 2021, 12:16 PM Manila Bulletin File Photo The Philippines remains under the “low-risk” classification for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) but some areas are starting to see a rise in new cases amid the threat of the Delta variant, the Department of Health (DOH) said. “Nationally, risk classification remains to be at low-risk with an average daily attack rate continuing to decrease in the recent week. However, more regions are experiencing a trend reversal to a positive two-week growth rate,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in an online forum on Friday, July 23. The Health official said that there is a slight increase in the daily new cases.

The rise of the COVID-19 cases recently in our province is very alarming,” Varquez said over Radio Veritas. The bishop urged the faithful in the province to take part in the observance on July 20. “Let us join our hands in prayer and offer the sacrifice of fasting to ask for God’s mercy against the COVID-19 pandemic,” Varquez said.

CHED eyes prioritization of students in COVID-19 vaccination

So every layer of protection that is put in, the risk decreases,” De Vera said. “And once we see that everything is going smoothly, I’ll go to President Duterte himself to tell him that our limited face-to-face classes are brining good results, so maybe we can open additional courses soon,” he added.
