It is “moonlight and magnolia blossom time” in the Hill Country counties of North Mississippi as the spring season progresses with nature in full bloom as the old English red roses of May add their beauty to the landscape as well.  A vibrant, running pink rose can still be found blooming near the old Warren-Graham home place near Sand Springs as a Texas relative once wanted to find a cutting as the flower had been described to her by her great-grandmother many years ago.  The jaunt by Jeep driving down the old country roads had several bushes even flourishing on the ditch banks and running alongside the ground at the old site of the pioneer family’s homestead. I have been told that the old roses are not as susceptible to the varied blights or diseases that often attack other modern-day rose varieties. Family Peace Project hosts Waffle Breakfast

The annual Family Peace Project Waffle Breakfast was a huge success raising over $10,000. It is the non-profits largest fund-raiser of the year.

Family Peace Project to host Waffle Breakfast

he Family Peace Project will host its 20th annual waffle breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the First United Methodist Church.
Gluten-free and sugar-free options are available with multiple toppings including apple cinnamon, strawberries, blueberries, peach and various syrups.
The event serves as one of the organizations largest fundraisers each year, helping women and children flee abusive partners by providing emergency temporary shelter. Waffle sales help provide general funding and much needed building upkeep.
“We are celebrating our 20th annual waffle breakfast and are excited to announce our partnership with Sand Springs Church as a ministry,” said Michelle Robinson, volunteer ministry leader for Sand Springs. “We also have a new board President, Clint Davis.” ....
