Jeanette Siemens Pratt Tribune Last Monday evening, Circles of Hope, Pratt County hosted a Big View Conversation. Big Views are hosted four times a year for the purpose of engaging our Circle Leaders as well as the rest of the community in conversations that are of interest to most everyone. Last evening s topic was Affordable Family Fun Things to Do. With school being out in the near future and the weather becoming warmer everyone is looking to get out and do something together. Presenters for the evening included Sandy Evans for Rolla Rena. The Rink is a great place to have a birthday party, special event or just going out for a great time and a bit of exercise. The Rolla Rena also has skate mates that can be used for those just learning to skate or those a bit unsure of themselves on wheels. They are open on Fridays from 2-9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. and again from 2 to 9 p.m. or of course, can be rented at other times. Rolla Rena also rents skates, h ....

Reviewed by CLINTON WHITE. “AHIMSA” in the Hindu, Buddhist, and Jainist tradition, is “respect for all living things and avoidance of violence towards others”. Such was Mahatma Gandhi’s mantra of non-violent protest. But, with the festival’s theme of “The Idea of Vienna”, it’s not immediately clear how even the title of the composition performed in this concert, much less its music, would have a connection to the musical traditions and culture of Vienna, or, more especially, Austria. If that connection seems tenuous, it should not be, for this was a concert of exceptional ....

WHEN it comes to planning the Canberra International Music Festival, artistic director Roland Peelman wants to have his Sachertorte and eat it. For he has no intention of being straitjacketed by whatever title he puts to the festival, so that the 2021 motif, “The Idea of Vienna”, will be balanced by a formidable program of indigenous Australian music performed on each day of the event. To be sure, as the program reads, Vienna is “the city where Schubert and Strauss were born. The place where Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven made history. The opera house that Mahler transformed for the 20th century. The circles where Schoenberg foreshadowed the tragedy of two world wars”. ....
