Education key in addressing vaccine inequity As COVID-19 vaccines become increasingly available, the issue turns from how much there is to who is able to get them. Many in the community are making sure that people who may have a more difficult time accessing them can get them. “We want to be able to make things even across the board and we want to reach out to these underserved populations,” said Joseph Zuzel, the manger of community health for the east region for Hartford Healthcare. Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce names new board chair Staff Report The Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Lisa Griffin, president and CEO of Eastern CT Savings Bank, has been elected to serve as chair of the board of directors. Griffin joined the board in 2013 and became an officer, serving as secretary in 2014, quickly moving to vice-chairman in 2015. She serves as the chairman of the leadership program and is a member of the chamber s economic development committee. Griffin actively gives back to the community and serves on many volunteer boards, including the Madonna Place and Three Rivers Community College Foundation. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and hiking. ....
Bank foundation awards youth and social services grants The Jewett City Savings Bank Foundation has announced a total of $10,300 in grants to support youth and social services. Local recipients include $500 to the Friends of Music of Griswold for the Solan Bowen Comemorative Scholarship, $1,200 to the Jewett City office of Thames Valley Council for Community Action for its youth winter boot program, and $1,000 to the Griswold Senior Center to purchase iPads for its community connections and mental health program.
