DawnNewsTv/File ISLAMABAD: Protecting the most economically marginalised and vulnerable groups is the top priority of the government, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Senator Dr Sania Nishtar said. She expressed these views at the launch of a report, Mazdoor Ka Ehsaas, held by the Ehsaas Delivery Unit, Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division, in collaboration with International Labour Organisation (ILO). Ms Nishtar informed participants that a bill envisaging inclusion of workers from informal sectors of economy has already been presented in the Senate. She said the report will provide the government a strategic dimension to implement its approach towards protecting vulnerable segments more effectively. ....
Daily Times May 2, 2021 Ehsaas launched ‘Mazdoor Ka Ehsaas’ report on the occasion of International Labour Day 2021 to safeguard labour welfare. The report was launched on Saturday in a webinar, which was co-chaired by Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar and Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Syed Zulfikar Bukhari. Addressing the webinar, Dr Sania Nishtar said, “Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was the first person to stand for the rights of workers when he said to pay the worker his wages before his sweat dries.” She said the MKE report is the first of its kind that will help the government focus on universalising the social protection system in Pakistan and with a particular emphasis on including informal economy workers in the fold of social protection. ‘Mazdoor Ka Ehsaas’ launched to safeguard labourers’ welfare Islamabad May 2, 2021 Islamabad : In celebration of Labour Day 2021, Ehsaas hosted a webinar to e-launch, ‘Mazdoor Ka Ehsaas (MKE) Report’ which recommends that every labour worker in Pakistan should be provided with the social protection and a minimum standard of living. The webinar was co-chaired by SAPM on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr. Sania Nishtar and SAPM on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OPHRD) Syed Zulfikar Bukhari. The report recommends that as a first step towards providing social security coverage for every worker under the ‘Mazdoor ka Ehsaas’, a mechanism needs to be devised to register all informal sector workers, including those in the agricultural sector. MoU inked to improve ecosystem for street hawkers Islamabad March 5, 2021 Islamabad: Aimed at setting up a collaborative framework for the forthcoming Ehsaas Street Hawkers’ Initiative, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked Thursday at the Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division (PASSD) to steer the design and execution of the said initiative under ‘Mazdoor Ka Ehsaas.’ The MoU was signed between PASSD and a multitude of stakeholders including the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA), Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), and Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE).
