LAHORE: Most parts of the central Punjab and Pothohar region are expected to have rain on Tuesday (today).
According to meteorological office report, rain wind/thundershower is expected in Pothohar region, Gujrat, Narowal, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Okara, Sahiwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Faisalabad, Mian Channu and Hafizabad. Isolated heavy falls are also expected during the period on Monday (night). Hot and humid weather is expected in other parts of the country.

LAHORE: As the second monsoon spell wears out and the third one enters the country next Monday, farmers and water planners have reason to rejoice: showers have eliminated water shortages, helped substantially fill both major dams and benefited the entire crop cycle (rice, sugarcane, and maize).
According to Met department officials, the country received 23 per cent more rain between July 1 and 23 than its historical average. During these three weeks, Punjab received 17pc more rain, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32pc, Gilgit-Baltistan 151pc, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 9pc, and Balochistan 49pc more rain. Sindh was the only unfortunate part that received 12pc less rain. ....

LAHORE: Torrential rains that lashed the province in the last 24 hours caused six deaths, collapse of six buildings and major injuries to 26 others, said the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) here on Tuesday.
According to the authority, one of the deaths was reported from Manga Mandi area of Lahore where a roof collapse caused it and another in Jaranwala (Faisalabad) where the wall of a house fell due to heavy rains and led to a death. ....

Rain inundates Lahore roads, animal markets

LAHORE: The City received around 99mm rain here Tuesday inundating all major roads, greenbelts, open places and temporarily established markets for the sale of sacrificial animals.
The rain started early Tuesday and continued till noon. It damaged the temporarily established sale points of sacrificial animals due to which a large number of sellers thronged City roads with their animals. Mostly every greenbelt or open plot in various localities was flooded with sacrificial animals.
As per the data released by Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), the highest rain of 99mm was recorded at Farrukhabad and lowest was recorded at 40.6mm on Jail Road. The data showed that 97mm rain was recorded at Pani Wala Talab and Nishtar Town each, 86.3mm rain at Lakshmi Chowk, 86mm at Johar Town, 73mm at Samanabad, 68mm at Gulshan-e-Ravi, 80mm each at Chowk Nakhuda and Punjab University, 59mm at Tajpura, 58mm at Iqbal Town, 53 ....
