Douglas Strachan, 75, of Rio Verde passed away peacefully on July 15, 2021, with family at his side. Doug was born on Nov. 24, 1945, to Alvin (Pinky) and Joyce Strachan. He grew up on the family farm in Castle Rock, Minn. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1963. He played football, basketball and baseball and summer baseball in the D.R.S. league. He attended Mankato State College for one year.
Doug married Phyllis Fredrickson in 1964 and they had two sons, Steve (Sue) and Jim (Maren). Doug and Phyllis were married for 18 years. In 1984 Doug married Pat Rice.
He started his career at General Mills, who sent him to Control Data Institute. That led to a successful career in information technology that spanned four decades. He worked with several companies including EMR Computing, Cytrol Inc., Shearson Lehman Hutton, US Bank and Dain Rauscher/RBC before retiring in 2002.

Like any tough-minded editor, Kent Gardner expected the reporters he supervised at the Star Tribune to produce stories. If they came back empty-handed, it could be an uncomfortable conversation.
Dick Meryhew, who was covering St. Paul, recalls returning to the newsroom around 5 p.m. one day to tell Gardner he couldn t get anyone to talk about a story. That s OK, Mr. Meryhew, I ll read it tomorrow morning in the Pioneer Press, Gardner drolly replied.
Donald L. Weber, age 79, formally of Cohasset, MN passed away Friday April 30, 2021 at his home in Waconia, MN.
Don was born in 1941 to Roy and Lydia Weber in Springfield, MN. He grew up on a farm with his parents and two brothers, was active in FFA, and played baseball and basketball for his high school teams. Don was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He graduated from Sanborn High School in 1959 and Mankato State College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Don was united in marriage to his high school friend and classmate Jeanette Luck on January 26, 1963 at Red Rock EUB Church. They resided in Mankato, Bloomington, Alexandria, Madison (SD), Hill City, Cohasset and Waconia. After moving to Cohasset in 2004 they settled into their retirement home on the golf course at Sugarbrooke Estates and quickly found they were blessed to have many neighbors who became wonderful friends and golf buddies.
