SHELBY TOWNSHIP On March 9, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office made a final ruling that a Shelby Township police officer acted with justification when he fatally shot a suspect in 2018 who turned out to be unarmed.
The Attorney General’s Office said that it had cleared officer Jason Zuk, who was the officer who fired the one shot in the incident in Shelby Township in November 2018, and closed its file on the incident.
Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel had agreed last July to review the 2018 case in which the suspect, a 25-year-old Macomb County man, turned out to be unarmed, to evaluate whether charges should have been filed against law enforcement involved in the incident. STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – Vehicle thefts, reckless driving and a high-speed police chase led to a three-vehicle crash and the death of a 20-year-old woman early Friday, FOX 2 Detroit reports.
A 17-year-old, who was allegedly recklessly driving a vehicle stolen from a dealership, was arrested at the crash scene in Sterling Heights, the TV station reports. Police believe there was a second suspect who fled the scene and has not been found.
The incident began around 11 p.m. Thursday, April 29, when Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched on a report of reckless driving in the area of 30 Mile and Van Dyke in Washington Township, the report said. It turned out that four vehicles had been stolen from a dealership in the area, including a white Jeep Cherokee, which deputies pursued in a high-speed chase beginning around 11:15 p.m. ....

A stolen Jeep ran a red light along Van Dyke Avenue the night of April 29 and caused a crash that led to the death of a woman in another vehicle, Sterling Heights police said.
Police learned at around 11:15 p.m. that law enforcement from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department had been chasing after a white Jeep Cherokee that a suspect allegedly had stolen. A police press release said the theft occurred in Washington Township, and Sterling Heights police Lt. Mario Bastianelli later confirmed that the theft happened at an auto dealership. ....
