MACOMB COUNTY More work on part of a 15 Mile Road sewer interceptor is in the pipeline, but county officials are pleased with progress and say it will eventually help prevent sinkholes or other disasters from occurring in the Sterling Heights area.
The Macomb County Public Works Office announced June 14 that it had recently managed to wrap up a key portion of a $28 million project. That work involved, since last fall, digging an estimated 60-foot-deep shaft to do sewer work near 15 Mile Road and the ITC Corridor ....

MACOMB COUNTY For those in Michigan living in senior care facilities, the pandemic has often meant isolation from family.
Since January, Leah Yacoub has been part of the national movement among balloon artists called Adopt A Grandparent. In the span of a couple weeks, over 150 senior care residents have been adopted locally. ....

That’s where the Handy Helpers come in.
The new program launched by the Macomb County Office of Senior Services was created to help local seniors with minor home repairs.

“Our mission is to provide supports and services in the home that support autonomy,” said Sheila Coté, director of the Macomb County Office of Senior Services.
The service is funded through grants from the Area Agency on Aging 1B and is intended for individuals 60 years of age and older who live in Macomb County in their own home.
“The Handy Helpers program can complete tasks that are a challenge for the individual, because maintenance of a home can become a deterrent to living independently,” Cote said. ....
