Ian Richard William Rolingson, 37, faced Mackay District Court on Monday on domestic violence-related charges including choking his former girlfriend until she could not breathe. His victim, his former partner and the mother of his baby son, sat opposite his new girlfriend. With a large head tattoo and wearing board shorts, the father of five swore intermittently from the dock while his family members insisted he behave. While the court was adjourned to confer with the victim, the man called his former partner names and told police officers to “f - off”.

Chantelle Louise Emslie faced Mackay District Court on Tuesday over the burglary and armed robbery of a woman at an Airlie Beach backpackers on June 7 last year. The court heard Emslie was 38 when she entered the woman’s dwelling armed with an “offensive instrument” alongside co-accused Vicky-Marie Philippie, then 37, and Lyall John Geesu, then 33. Man denies Mackay rape, claiming she encouraged intercourse

Premium Content Subscriber only A Victorian man accused of raping a Mackay woman almost a decade ago has testified to deny the allegations. Mr Forbes said while he could not recall every detail from the night when it is alleged he raped a woman in her North Mackay home, he believed he had her consent and encouragement. The court heard Mr Forbes, then 20, and his workmate met the Mackay woman and her friend while partying at Envy nightclub in Mackay’s CBD on December 10, 2011. Crown prosecutor Tiffany Laurence told the court the group then shared a maxi taxi back to the woman’s unit after which Mr Forbes allegedly opened her closed bedroom door to rape her while she was in and out of consciousness.
