As technology has advanced, more and more jobs performed by humans have been put into the hands of machines and artificial intelligence (AI). Seeing that tech companies like Microsoft and Google, have invested in automatic translation, the days of human translators seem numbered. But can machines and AI do the job as well as humans, or will we always need a human to do the job?

McKenzie International Brings Track to community hit hard by wildfires
In many ways, track is about birth and rebirth. You start each lap at 0 even if the race clock says otherwise. The Mckenzie area s recovery after the holiday farm fire is a marathon. But a track event this week signalled the start of a new lap that may lead to some steadier times ahead.

Blue River, Ore. Standing in the middle of the McKenzie Community Track, one could almost be forgiven for forgetting what happened here nine months ago. Cars line the parking lot as some of the best athletes in the world warm up and relax. The vibe is loose, the trees are green and the sky is painted hues of blue and orange as the sun sets. While the immediate area around the track looks largely unchanged, the hillsides surrounding it tell a different story; one that started on September 7th, 2020.
The spectators in Blue River even got to witness one become the second-fastest Australian ever.
The McKenzie International, put on by Portland Track, was the first meet held at the track since the fire burned 173,000 acres and destroyed more than 400 homes last Labor Day weekend. Proceeds from the event and the online livestream will go toward the Oregon Community Foundation s Community Rebuilding Fund to help recovery in the McKenzie River Valley.
Athletes also did not take any prize money for the meet, giving it instead to the rebuilding fund.
The McKenzie Track is special to the Blue River community beyond playing host to big events like this. It was funded and built entirely by the community, with locals including creator Jeff Sherman helping lay the track by hand to finish it in 2010.
