Premium Content Subscriber only A woman who was intercepted by police twice in three months while high at the wheel faced Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Demi Jalese Blake, 24, pleaded guilty to two counts of drug driving. Prosecutor Kelvin Boys read the facts of Blake’s case to the court and Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead. On Friday, January 1, around 5.25am police intercepted Blake driving a Mazda sedan on Gladstone Benaraby Road. She submitted to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result and she was taken to the police vehicle for further testing. The test concluded, indicating the presence of a relevant drug in Blake’s saliva and she was issued a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court and a certificate of analysis. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A Central Queensland man was ordered to pay more than $6000 restitution after selling vehicle parts he stole from a property in Gladstone in 2019. Curtis Ross Zimmerlie pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on January 11 to one count each of trespass, stealing and fraud. Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said police had received a complaint on September 21, 2019 that unknown persons had entered a property on Gladstone Benaraby Rd. Sgt Dalton said Zimmerlie drove a vehicle onto the property and removed several vehicle parts, mainly radiators, between September 16 and 21. The court heard Zimmerlie attended the metal recyclers on three separate occasions to sell the stolen vehicle parts. ....

Seven crews of fire fighters in vehicles from Gladstone, Tannum Sands and Benaraby battled the blaze that broke out about 11.30am. The fire was fanned by gusty winds, quickly moving through parched grass and bushland. It is anticipated Gladstone Benaraby Road will be reopened to traffic when fire fighters have finished mopping up hot spots. UPDATE: 1.40pmSeven crews of fire fighters are now battling to stop a fire at Glen Eden spreading to impact nearby homes. Winds are increasing and fanning the flames, while Gladstone Benaraby Road remains closed in both directions near the Glen Eden turn-off. ....
