A frozen family favourite will return in 2022, after its owner reflected on a successful 2021 instalment of the Gladstone Harbour Festival.
Peter Barton ‘Rainbow Freezie’ has been servicing Gladstone’s famous festival with frozen drinks of countless flavours for decades.
Speaking to The Observer on Easter Sunday, Mr Barton said community participation was his favourite thing about the festival.
“You haven’t just got the festival, you’ve got all of the other things that are going on around the town, more towns need that,” Mr Barton said.
“They need that communication between each other and I think Gladstone has got that.” ....

Overcast conditions on Easter Sunday could not prevent the Gladstone region from turning up in their droves to enjoy the last day of the Harbour Festival.
Sideshow alley was teeming with life as parents and youngsters took advantage of cheap rides and good times.
For the adults, live entertainment from local acts ensured it was a leisurely Sunday atmosphere as the Harbour Festival bid farewell to the region for another year.
Speaking to The Observer, Harbour Festival organisers said they were more than pleased with the Harbour Festival s latest instalment.
One thing is for sure, the 2022 instalment of Gladstone s most famous event promises to be its best one yet. ....

Hundreds turned out to celebrate day one of the Gladstone Harbour Festival for 2021.
All of the usual attractions were popular yet again, with dozens of kids trying their luck in side show alley.
For the bigger kids, the thrillseeking rides were in full swing and the screams of laughter and excitement could be heard for kilometres.
For those more into relaxation than thrill seeking, there was plenty on offer.
Market stalls and pop-up shops lined the festival, with everything from rainbow sour licorice to handmade wooden ornaments.
It is safe to say that the Gladstone Harbour Festival is the city s biggest attraction of the year and 2021 s instalment has not disappointed. ....

Get creative for Gladstone shopfront competition

Businesses in the Gladstone region are being encouraged to get creative this month for the Dress Up Your Shopfront competition.
The competition, being run by the Quota Club of Gladstone, is open to any business in the region.
This year the theme of the competition is Tropical , so all businesses are eligible to make their shopfronts look as spectacular as possible in keeping with the theme.
The competition has been split into three categories based around how many staff your business employs.
The categories are; one to five staff, six to 10 staff, and 11 plus staff.
Cash prizes will be awarded for each category. ....
