Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 31: Counting of votes in respect of gram panchayat election held recently continued till late night on Wednesday December 30. Both the Congress and the BJP have been claiming that they have secured an upper hand.
As per results available, BJP was ahead in Beltangady, Puttur, Sullia and Kadaba taluks, the parties had a neck to neck fight in Mangaluru, Bantwal, and Moodbidri taluks. In some gram panchayats, the Congress succeeded in making inroads in BJP bastions while in some others, BJP supporters succeeded in getting the majority. A clear picture about the result is expected to emerge on Thursday December 31.

Dakshina Kannada, Udupi gear up for first phase of gram panchayat elections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 21: With less than 24 hours to go before the polling for the first phase of gram panchayat elections, preparations are in full swing in the district to ensure everything goes smoothly. On Monday December 21, polling officials and personnel deputed on poll duty reported at the mustering and de-mustering centers in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi.
Mustering and de-mustering was done at Mahatma Gandhi Centenary High School, Bondel in Mangaluru while the same was conducted at St Cecily s Institutions Brahmagiri in Udupi.
