IGP urges ulema to promote peace July 3, 2021 PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari has asked religious scholars to promote peace, tranquility and brotherhood in the society. He was talking to a 15-member delegation of the ulema Council from Madrassa Haqqania Akora Khattak, which called on him at his office. Maulana Yousaf Shah led the delegation, said a handout. Other members of the delegation included Mufti Zafar Zaman Haqqani, Maulana Abdul Haseeb Haqqani, Maulana Sahib Hussain, Naveed Ahmad, Sarkani, Maulana Tayyab Qureshi, Maulana Bin Umar Abdul Aziz and Maulana Miraj-ud-Din Sarkai. PESHAWAR: Worshippers ignored precautionary measures against coronavirus during Eid congregations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday and exchanged greetings in the traditional way of shaking hands with and hugging each other. However, thing traffic was reported on the roads due to the closure of public places and travel restrictions. In Peshawar, the main Eid congregation was held at the Charasadda Road Eidgah. Provincial chief khateeb Maulana Tayyab Qureshi delivered the sermon and led prayers. Mosques hosted Eid prayers in both city and cantonment areas. However, worshipers flouted the standard operating procedures issued by the government to stem the spread of coronavirus and greeted each other by hugging and shaking hands. ....
PESHAWAR: The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will hold an unprecedented meeting in Peshawar on April 13 for the sighting of Ramazan moon as it is likely to be joined by the local unofficial Ruet committee headed by Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai for the first time. Chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad told a presser here on Wednesday that Mufti Popalzai, who headed the unofficial moon-sighting body at the historic Qasim Ali Khan Mosque, Peshawar, would extend full cooperation to the central one. He said the Ruet meeting would be held in Peshawar to develop consensus about the start of Ramazan across the country the same day and ensure that no one complains about the sighting of the moon. ....
Peshawar February 24, 2021 PESHAWAR: Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad said on Tuesday all ulema would be taken on board over the moonsighting issue and decisions would be made in the light of testimonies and Shariah. He was speaking at a press conference here during his visit to the provincial metropolis where he had meetings with religious scholars and government representatives. Flanked by Maulana Tayyab Qureshi, Maulana Rohullah Madni, Maulana Abdul Jalil and others, he said modern technology would be utilised and help sought from religious affairs ministry, science and technology ministries, meteorological department and SPARCO department for the moon sighting. ....
