March 03, 2021REGION A number of local elections have some contested races while a number of incumbents are running uncontested for reelection.
Election day in Meredith and Center harbor is on Tuesday, March 9 while Moultonborough and Sandwich have rescheduled their elections for a later date going with a governor s emergency order. Moultonborough voters will take to the polls on May 11 and Sandwich will vote on April 13.
In Meredith, three people are seeking two open seats on the board of selectmen: Michael Laurent, Lynn Leighton, and incumbent Jeanie Forrester.
The rest are uncontested. Four people are running for four open seats for library trustees: Vivien Mitchell is running along with incumbents Ann Butler, Paul Eldridge, and Jonathan James. ....

Moultonborough, Sandwich postpone town meetings
February 24, 2021REGION Moultonborough and Sandwich have postponed their town meetings and elections to the spring going with the provisions of the governor s executive order allowing for municipalities to delay their voting from March to sometime in the spring or summer.
On Jan. 22, Gov. Chris Sununu issued Emergency Order #83 that allowed municipalities to delay their voting and town meeting days to April through July due to COVID-19 concerns.
Moultonborough and the Moultonborough School District have postponed its elections to May 11 and town and school district meeting to May 15. Sandwich will hold its town election on April 13 and town meeting will be on May 1. ....

Moultonborough school budget calls for 3.6 percent increase

February 24, 2021MOULTONBOROUGH The proposed Moultonborough School District budget will have a 3.6 percent increase from last year due to increases in retirement and health insurance contributions among other factors.
The Moultonborough School Board and district officials discussed the proposed 2021-2022 budget during a public hearing on Feb. 9.
The proposed budget is $14,998,057, a 3.6 percent increase over last year.
Superintendent Patrick Andrew said factors driving the budget increases include a significant rise in the amount of employer contributions to the New Hampshire Retirement System and increases in the health insurance.
District Business Manager Amanda Berquist also said there was also an increase in contracted services for special education. ....
