She says people don’t realise how far behind some young children start in society, sometimes without a sense of hope.
“I think people don t understand, the saddest day you have as a prosecutor is when you are dealing with the despondency of the victims, but also that young men are going to jail.”
Not enough was being done to tell young men what they were good at and about responsibility, she said.
Boys were slipping through the cracks, she said, not being told they had an important role in society as fathers.
“Teach our boys to be good, caring, kind men. And it doesn t mean they can t be strong, but everybody s hitting people; since when do you raise a boy to say it s okay to hit a woman. And [since] when do we raise our girls to believe that s okay?” ....
