Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 21st successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children s book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6. The National Simultaneous Storytime 2021 book is Una dreams of a life in space. Life on Earth is just so so-so. But how will she get there? And will she complete her mission to discover life in space? ....

The Urban Design Framework developed by Southern Downs Regional Council and town planners Ethos Urban has reached its final design phases, and is now set to be reviewed by the Pratten community at a public workshop on Tuesday. â(These were) reinforcing local identity, township improvements and upgrades, and fostering a cohesive and active community,â the spokeswoman said. The Pratten woman said she was only 14 when she first met Kiwi the donkey, who was recovering from a number of injuries after birthing complications and surgery. After spending every afternoon after school making her new-found friend feel at home and calm, Sophia said it was her mum’s idea to start riding the donkey that truly cemented the pair’s bond. Pratten resident Sophia Holland said her donkey Matilda s best friend was her husband Liam s horse, named Tinker. ....
