The firefighters were performing a prescribed burn that was also used as practice for wildland firefighting. Both Fire District No. 14 and Asotin County Fire District No. 1 used the burn as practice. Monday, 12 April 2021 - 17:54 The new Management Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) appointed by the Sports Minister, Namal Rajapaksa, met the media at SLC headquarters with its Chairman, Professor Arjuna de Silva emphasising that nobody was working to anybody’s agendas, and that he and his committee was there to solely fulfill what was expected of him by the sports minister in the short space of one month in the run up to the May 22 annual general meeting. Prof de Silva also announced that a T20 Legends match will go on as planned. He said that would be a good opportunity for the national players to shape up in view of the next T20 World Cup. ....

When you go for an interview, do your background research, ask the tough questions and don’t sleep on it. Get the story out as soon as possible.” Veteran journalist Rahimullah Yusufzai gave this advice during the second Razia Bhatti Memorial Lecture that was held at the Centre for Excellence in Journalism (CEJ) at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA). The lecture series is held to honour Razia Bhatti, the founder editor of the Newsline magazine who is considered one of Pakistan’s most outstanding journalists. ....

Photo / Supplied Hawkes Bay Today More than 30 years after completing her first te reo Māori certificate, Mereaera Hesketh (Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Kahungunu, Rangitāne, Ngāti Hikairo, Ngāti Pahauwera, Ngāti Rākaipaaka, Ngai Te Ipu, Ngāti Hamua, Ngāti Hinemanu, Ngāti Rameka) is now graduating with a master of professional practice with distinction. But so much has happened in between. Mereaera started to study te reo Māori in the late 1980s at the Hawke s Bay Community College (former name of EIT) after working as a kaiāwhina at Ōmahu Kōhanga Reo. ....
