On the Record: Portland attorney-entrepreneur Krystal Williams is 'embedding equity'

Krystal Williams is the founder of a Portland-based law and business advisory firm called Providentia Group and the nonprofit Alpha Legal Foundation, which aims to bring more diversity into Maine’s legal profession. She also chairs the board of KinoTek Inc., a digital health startup in Portland. Mainebiz caught up with the attorney-entrepreneur to find out more.
Mainebiz: What does Providentia do, and who are your clients so far?
Krystal Williams: Day-to-day, my current focus is on embedding equity principles in organizational business processes, assisting BIPOC entrepreneurs to establish and grow their businesses, and working with developing countries to usher in a clean energy economy. My clients are private companies, large nonprofit organizations, government entities and entrepreneurs. ....

Auburn library offers workshop on 'economic belonging'

AUBURN “The Content of Our Character: Moving Forward as a Community,” an interactive workshop offered by Auburn Public Library, will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, online via Zoom.
The workshop is a call to create economic belonging for all Mainers through inclusive, equitable, truth-based and authentic multi-racial coalitions. In this session, the historical routes of the disparities seen today will be addressed and ways that all Mainers can use their privilege will be identified, wherever and however it exists, to advance equity for all.
Krystal Williams, an attorney and entrepreneur in Portland, will be the presenter. Her law firm, Providentia Group, focuses on making Maine’s economy work for more Mainers, particularly individuals who identify as Mainers of color or who live in rural Maine.
