Police & Fire: Woman s jaw broken during domestic assault ASSAULTS: Battle Creek police have reported the following cases: • A woman, 49, was taken to Bronson Battle Creek with several injuries including a broken jaw after officers said she was assaulted by her boyfriend of eight years. Police were called to the Hometown Inn at 90 N. Division St. at 4:45 p.m. Monday. Officers said the man was gone and they are seeking a warrant for aggravated assault. • A woman, 29, and her husband, 39, said they were pepper sprayed while sitting in their car in a parking lot in the first block of Cliff Street at 8:06 p.m. Sunday. The victims said the woman had gone into a store when another car pulled into the lot and there was an exchange of words and gestures between the man and people in the other car. When the woman returned to the car a woman in the other car sprayed both people and left. ....
DRUNKEN DRIVING: A Kalamazoo woman, 38, was arrested on a drunken driving charge after asking a Battle Creek police officer for directions. The officer was stopped at 6:53 p.m. Friday at a red light on West Michigan Avenue at Kendall Street. He said a car stopped behind the patrol car and a woman approached and said she needed help getting to Kenilworth Avenue. The officer said it wasn t in Battle Creek and the woman said she believed she was in Kalamazoo. The officer said he could smell alcohol on her breath and when he asked her if she had been drinking she replied, yes, that s part of the problem. She later told officers she knew she was drunk but was trying to reach family members. An alcohol breath test showed her blood/alcohol level at 0.14 percent with 0.08 the legal limit for driving. She told the officers on a scale of zero to 10, with 10 being the most intoxicated she had ever been, how drunk was she, she replied she was at a seven. She was taken to the Calhoun County ....
WOMAN SHOT: A 26-year-old Springfield woman was taken to Bronson Battle Creek with gunshot wounds to the upper portion of both legs after a shooting at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday in the first block of North 11th Street, in Springfield. Calhoun County Sheriff Department deputies believe she was shot by a 16-year-old Battle Creek boy as part of an ongoing dispute between several people. Deputies were called at 8:15 p.m. to the house where the victim lives after four young women entered the house looking for an 18-year-old woman who lives there, but was not at home. Deputies said the shooting victim was shot near the home. The shooting is believed to connected to the earlier home invasion and to an assault in Battle Creek. Deputies are seeking a warrant for the 16-year-old suspect in the shooting and for four females, 24, two 17 and one 16, for the home invasion. ....

Calhoun County Health Officer Eric Pessell says, âWorking together on vaccination clinics will allow for us to vaccinate more residents, create more suitable hours, and hold more mass and micro clinics for the community. We have a goal to reach 70% of the population by years end and together I feel that we will accomplish it.
