April marked the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster a solemn, terrifying occasion made even more severe by its overlap with another deadly, global microscopic crisis. And while tourists and researchers are now permitted to visit the 1000-square mile Exclusion Zone (including the nuclear plant’s actual control room) on certain conditions, many still stigmatize the area, with unfortunately economic reverberations echoing throughout the region.

A study by The University of Western Australia and Sydney University has found three-quarters of Australians support a mandatory COVID vaccination for work, study, and travel.
Mandatory vaccination is where vaccination is required if people choose to partake in particular activities or access specific entitlements, as opposed to compulsory vaccination which would require everyone to be vaccinated.
The study, published in Politics, coincides with the recent announcement of an Australia and New Zealand travel bubble, with governments negotiating what measures may be needed to keep people safe.
The researchers surveyed 1200 people last year and results indicate more Australians are advocates for mandatory vaccination (73 per cent) compared to how many would feel comfortable getting the vaccine themselves (66 per cent). ....

Three-quarters of Australians would support a government requirement to be vaccinated in order to work, travel or study. This number is higher than the number of Australians who would agree to the vaccine voluntarily, a survey has found.

Almost three-quarters of Australians would back a COVID-19 vaccine passport, a new poll shows, as health officials weigh up a potential nationwide policy.
In the first survey of Australian attitudes to a jab mandate, 73 per cent of respondents agreed the government should make it compulsory for work, travel and study.
David Smith, the lead author of the University of Sydney and University of Western Australia study, noted that was more than the 66 per cent who reported they would get the shot voluntarily.
