Singles living alone in Sydney frustrated over lockdown exemptions granted to couples

The exemption was made to “strike a balance of compassion and common sense,” Mr Hazzard said.
But single people living alone in Greater Sydney are now wondering where the same compassion is for their cohort.
“If I had a partner and we both lived in share houses we would be allowed to visit each other that looks to me like a much bigger risk,” said Rika.
“I don’t want to be strung along week by week and then at the end of it find that it’s been six weeks and I haven’t seen anyone. I’m exhausted from interacting digitally.” ....

Protecting our health from air pollution

Protecting our health from air pollution
We’ve been funding research to show how air pollution can damage your heart and blood vessels, as well as campaigning to influence Government policy.
Air pollution takes an estimated six months off the average life expectancy in the UK, and is associated with up to 11,000 heart and circulatory deaths every year.
Globally, air pollution is attributed to 1 out of every 5 deaths from heart attack and stroke. We’ve been working for over a decade to understand how air pollution damages the heart and blood vessels, and using the evidence to lobby for improvement in air quality. ....

Rubber wheels. Electric batteries. No overhead wires. This could be the future for Melbourne’s trams.
By 2025, brand-new trams will be cruising through Melbourne’s streets, thanks to a $1.5 billion Andrews government injection to fund 100 “next-generation trams”. Nimble, low-floor and energy-efficient, the new vehicles will replace lumbering A and Z-Class trams built in the 1970s and 1980s.
