Gurgaon: A day after the state government put a cap on ambulance rates and directed Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) to take punitive action against those charging extra to ferry patients, private operators in the city stopped their services on Tuesday.
The Private Ambulance Welfare Association, Gurgaon, submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner’s office in Gurgaon on Tuesday mentioning their inability to run their vehicles as per the rates fixed.
“The government has said it will cancel driving licences and registrations of vehicles if operators charge more than the prescribed rate. So, we have decided to keep our ambulances parked,” said the president of Private Ambulance Welfare Association, Gurgaon, Rajesh Yadav, adding that they expect the government to come up with a revised rate.
