New vision for Libyan private higher education unveiled
To control the rapid increase in unaccredited, sub-standard private universities that produce unemployable graduates, Libya’s Students Organisation of Private Higher Education has unveiled a new vision for the private higher education sector in the country. This includes the creation of a National Council for Private Higher Education.
The new vision, titled ‘Private Higher Education in Libya 2021’, was presented at a private higher education conference on 23 June, 2021.
Engineer Waleed Gashout, author of the vision and the president of the Students Organisation of Private Higher Education, told
University World News that the national council’s objective is to provide a framework for the promotion and regulation of a quality higher education system that is relevant and market-driven. ....

Addis Abeba, April 27, 2021 – According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), more than 358,000 students took the national university entrance exam to pursue higher education in the upcoming academic year 2020/21 (2013 E.C.). In Addis Abeba alone more than 23,560 have taken the exam. The Ministry of Science and Higher education (MoSHE) announced that 147,640 students will be expected to join 47 government universities.
