Mother and son hospitalized after Cass County crash Updated Apr 11, 2021; Facebook Share CASS COUNTY, MI - A mother and son were hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, police said. Deputies responded around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, April 11, to a single-vehicle crash on M-51 near Crystal Springs Street in Pokagon Township, southwest of Dowagiac. An investigation found a 34-year-old Niles resident and her 9-year-old son were headed south on M-51 when the vehicle went off the road, into an embankment and overturned, according to a news release from Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke. The boy was thrown from the vehicle and the woman had to be removed from the vehicle by first responders.
