May 8, 2021 Grace W. Ferrari of Hershey, Pa., peacefully entered the Church Triumphant on May 4, 2021, from her home. Born Jan. 14, 1928, in Academia, Juniata County. She was the daughter of the late Lewis A. Walters and Alice C. Walters. On Jan. 17, 1970, Grace married the late O. D. Ferrari with whom she shared 24 years of marriage. Grace is survived by: one sister, Beulah-Mae W. Lukens, Hershey, Pa.; stepdaughter Joan F. Greene and husband LTC (USA Ret) Robert Greene, Potomac Falls, Va.; niece Shelia Conner and husband Bruce, Marionville, Pa.; nephew Paul Ferrari and wife Karen, Rimersburg, Pa.; cousins June Gochenour, Roy, Jr. and wife Debra Gochenour, Jan and Kirk Fry; Jill and Tim Argie; Donna W. Heinbaugh; Linda Simmons and husband Phil; second cousins from North Dakota; and a host of friends. ....

LOUISVILLE â Kay Woods was a newcomer to the United Nationsâ largest annual gathering on gender equality and womenâs empowerment when she traveled to New York City in 2019 as part of a Presbyterian delegation. âWhat I found, personally, is that I just got on fire there,â Woods said of the 63 rd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). There were 5,000 âdetermined, courageous, brilliant, forward-looking women, all working on these issues, and I just got that âWe can do this!â feeling.â ....
Purim is the annual festival that commemorates the preservation of the Jews, as told in the biblical book of Esther. The book recounts the wicked scheme of Haman, an advisor to the Persian King Ahasuerus, to kill all the Jews. It reads a bit like a mystery novel as we learn that a Jew named Mordecai, who works in the courts of the King and had angered Haman, enters his niece, Esther, in the King’s beauty contest. The contest was to replace the King’s banished Queen, and Mordecai told Esther to keep her Jewish identity secret. As it turns out, Esther wins the contest and becomes the Queen just as Mordecai hears of the murderous plot of Haman. ....
