Shuttered call centre sours Capita's £58m contract extension with Tesco Mobile

Tesco Mobile has extended its customer management contract with Capita for another three years as part of ongoing plans to streamline the grocer-cum-telco s customer service operation.
Back then, those involved said the deal would enhance Tesco s already award-winning customer service propositions to keep punters happy.
This latest announcement takes this relationship another step forward offering further opportunities for improvements to customer service [including telesales and renewals calls] whilst securing shared efficiencies through technology deployment and a new hybrid working model.
While Capita is keen to focus on the positive, some frontline staff aren t sure if they will be part of the plans following news that its contact centre in Bury, north Manchester, is facing the chop. ....

Vital upgrade of West Coast Main Line rail route completed | Runcorn and Widnes World

ENGINEERS were able to complete vital upgrades to a key railway line in Cheshire over the bank holiday weekend.
Essential work was carried out by Network Rail on a section of track on the West Coast Main Line at Preston Brook as part of a 14.5million improvement project.
The upgrade of the track, which runs between Warrington Bank Quay and Acton Bridge station in Northwich, will ensure its safe continuation for passenger and freight services going forwards.
The multi-million pound improvement scheme also saw signalling upgrades at Trafford Park, track foundation stone upgrades in Crewe and Carlisle and track replacement in Worcester and Buckinghamshire. ....

Controversial plan by Capita to close Radcliffe call centre

Capita has announced plans to axe its Tesco Mobile contact centre in Radcliffe.
The centre could close its doors as early as September.
The proposals have upset employees who have described the plans as a “kick in the teeth” and Metro Mayor Andy Burnham and Bury Council leader Eamonn O’Brien are backing a Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) call to reverse the plans.
Under the proposals Capita, say the union, want workers to relocate 35 miles away to Preston Brook, near Warrington.
And 25 per cent of staff would have to work from home. Redeployment to other Capita sites is also suggested, with no pay guarantees. ....
