Pool renovations are finishing up and lifeguards are beginning training as many municipalities prepare to open up later this month, though the season may look different as they put restrictions into place to maintain a safe environment.
In Winchester, major renovations to the pool are finishing up and will be ready for an opening later this month.
Mayor Rex McIntire said Winchester is wrapping up its renovations of its pool.
“The contractors guaranteed they’d be done by the 14th, then the city will start filling it,” McIntire said. “We hope to have everything ready for a grand opening on the 29th.”

A decades-long litigation between the Village of South Jacksonville and Labor Drive appears to have reached a settlement.
The Village Trustees voted unanimously to accept a 6-term settlement agreement that goes back to 2005 with issues in overpayment on water & sewer by Labor Drive to the village.
According to the agreement, beginning on June 1
st, the village will bill Labor Drive on a per meter basis as opposed to billing on the approximately 244 apartments. There are currently 33 meters for the apartments on Labor Drive and they will be billed per month for water services.

It’s not unknown that cell service can be spotty in South Jacksonville, the coverage could soon improve for those on the Verizon network.
The tower is located on farmland at the corner of Illinois Route 100 and Oxville Lane in the village.
Chris Serico, a Verizon spokesman, said he could not discuss any future projects, but said Verizon has been looking to expand coverage throughout the county, especially as more people work remotely.

A South Jacksonville resident who was removed from the April ballot for the South Jacksonville presidency will remain off the ballot after a Morgan County court on Wednesday upheld the decision made by the South Jacksonville Electoral Board.
Judge Chris Reif affirmed the board’s decision to keep Tyson Manker’s name off the April ballot.
