A massive increase in the sales of pools last year is creating shortages in some replacement parts and chlorine disinfecting tablets this year.Vladimir Vladimirov
Last year, it was pools that were in heavy demand as people looked for ways to enjoy pandemic life at home.
This summer, the supplies to keep the water in those pools clean and sparkling could be the problem.
Chlorine tablets are already in short supply because of labor shortages and other issues that are limiting production. Although there are other ways to disinfect water in pools and hot tubs, chlorine is by far the most popular choice because of the ease of use.

In Winchester, major renovations to the pool are finishing up and will be ready for an opening later this month.
Mayor Rex McIntire said Winchester is wrapping up its renovations of its pool.
“The contractors guaranteed they’d be done by the 14th, then the city will start filling it,” McIntire said. “We hope to have everything ready for a grand opening on the 29th.”
