ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) Vice President Maryam Nawaz will address her first public meeting in Muzaffarabad today (Thursday) as part of the campaign for elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) scheduled to be held on July 25.
Sources said the schedule of Maryam Nawaz for election campaign in the AJK was approved by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on the recommendation of the party President Shehbaz Sharif.
“The senior party members were also of the view that Maryam Nawaz successfully campaigned in bye-elections and helped party candidates win their seats against the ruling party candidates. So whole the party along with PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif was convinced that Maryam Nawaz could mobilise party support base in the AJK through her public meetings,” sources said.

Pak SC says federal agencies going against LHC in Shehbaz Sharif s case is prima facie contempt of court ANI | Updated: May 25, 2021 22:32 IST
Islamabad [Pakistan], May 25 (ANI): PakistanSupreme Court on Tuesday noted that federal agencies had worked against the Lahore High Court (LHC) orders by preventing opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif to go abroad, which prima facie amounts to contempt of court.
Justice Sajjad Ali Shah wondered that since Shehbaz has withdrawn his petition from the high court, how can the government s appeal be heard now, Geo News reported.
This comes after Attorney General of Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan expressed concerns on the swift action taken by the LHC on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz seeking removal of his name from the Exit Control List ECL).
