The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI), Mangaluru, will, in association with other entrepreneurs associations, fund a portion of ₹84 lakh required for setting up an oxygen generation plant at the Government Lady Goschen Hospital in the city.
CREDAI Mangaluru president Pushparaj Jain said that the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Mangaluru Contractors Association have given ₹15 lakh each, while the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers has given ₹8 lakh. The remaining amount will be given by CREDAI, he said.
Mr. Jain and other members handed over a cheque for ₹41.86 lakh on Thursday to the district administration towards the cost of construction of the plant. ....

The district administrations of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, which are fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, have geared up to face the double whammy in the form of a cyclone that was in the process of being formed in the Arabian Sea and likely to hit Kerala and Karnataka coasts on Saturday and Sunday.
With the India Meteorological Department predicting the low pressure formed in the southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep area on Thursday could develop into a cyclone, the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority has issued alerts to coastal districts to get ready to face the cyclone. ....

Mangaluru City Corporation appoints Covid-19 nodal officers in each ward | Mangaluru News

MANGALURU: Even as the city witnesses surge in Covid-19 cases, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has appointed nodal officers for all the 60 wards, to fight pandemic effectively. The city corporation also decided to introduce mobile swab collection units in all the urban public health centres (UPHC).
After six days, Dakshina Kannada reported less than 1,000 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday with the district reporting 915 positive cases and five deaths. While the district has 12,628 active cases, majority are in Mangaluru city.
Dr Ashok H, district nodal officer for Covid-19, told TOI that the number of containment zones in the district increased from 94 to 100. Mangaluru taluk has 46 containment zones with 372 cases and Bantwal has 27 such zones with 176 cases, Dr Ashok said adding that most of the active cases are in Mangaluru city limits. ....
