Hobart-based IT hosting infrastructure and telecommunications services provider TasmaNet has launched an eastern seaboard cloud node based in Sydney to provide access to its Core private cloud platform.
According to Rob Vernon, the provider’s CEO, the node will deliver elastic private cloud connectivity to its customer base.
This is the third node for the provider, which follows the launch of two nodes based in Tasmania.
“As TasmaNet has grown its footprint of customers and services in eastern states, we are leveraging our connectivity to enable secure access to the enterprise grade elastic compute and storage solutions offered by the TasmaNet Core private cloud environment,” Vernon said. ....

Hobart-based telco TasmaNet has launched its eastern seaboard cloud node in Sydney to expand its TasmaNet Core private cloud platform.
TasmaNet’s platform is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering that the company said allows customers to retain control of business data and ICT expenditure while moving to the cloud.
TasmaNet chief executive Rob Vernon said the cloud node investment expands capability to the company to deliver elastic private cloud connectivity to customers and partners.

Commissioners report on pending land deals

AUBURN â A series of land transactions that will lead to a new home for the DeKalb County Highway Department â and help pay for it â occupied the DeKalb County Council Monday.
The County Commissioners are preparing to buy 15 acres on the east side of Waterloo as the highway departmentâs new home. They will pay the appraised value of $1,073,000 to owner Brett Henderson and an investment partner, Rich Allen.
Commissioners are selling the existing highway department site in south Auburn to the City of Auburn for the appraised value of $305,000. They also are selling two unused tracts of land â one northwest of Auburn and the other southwest of Butler â to help pay for the Waterloo property. ....
