WBBJ TV June 2, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn.– WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News has been sharing stories with you about Brett Wyatt, a young Gibson county boy fighting a battle with cancer and now we have updates on his journey. For the past six months, upcoming South Gibson eighth grader Brett Wyatt has been fighting a “Brave” battle with leukemia. Wyatt was diagnosed with leukemia in January and has now been at St. Jude Children’s Hospital for 110 days. His mother, Carla Wyatt has taken to social media for the past few months updating the community on Brett’s battle creating the now popular hashtag #Bravelikebrett, giving people a positive outlook on life. ....
WBBJ TV April 29, 2021 This fashion show was on fire in dazzling West Tennessee, with actual fire. The My Best Friend Jenna Bridal Shop in Jackson hosted the fashion show to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Event coordinator and shop owner, Jenna Hamilton says the show brings the area together for one great night. “We have at least 25 communities from across West Tennessee represented tonight. There are 55 models that are taking the runway,” Hamilton said. The show was prom themed. High school juniors and seniors competed to raise money for St. Jude, walking the runway in dresses designed by Jonathan Cain, and walked for the chance at winning a scholarship. ....

WBBJ TV January 29, 2021 MILAN, Tenn. Two local high schools set aside their athletic rivalry Friday evening to support a family in need. Earlier this week, South Gibson seventh grade student Brett Wyatt was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and has been treated at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Wyatt is the son of South Gibson Girls Basketball Coach Carla Wyatt. In order to raise support during this difficult time, Milan High school took up monetary donations at Friday’s basketball game designated specifically for the Wyatt family. Milan Principal Greg Scott explained how the night was more than just competition on the court. ....
WBBJ TV January 29, 2021 GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. Brett Wyatt is a seventh grader from Medina, whose mom is the women’s basketball coach at South Gibson County High School. Brett’s parents say he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia earlier this week, and he’s currently at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in a medically induced coma. Brett’s mom shared her son’s story via Facebook, where she received a large amount of support from the community. His parents are asking for prayers during this time specifically for Brett for healing, his brother Bond for peace, and for all of Brett’s friends at home. ....
