“That was the best match we had all weekend,” McGolpin said. “Life Pacific definitely pushed us in every aspect.”
Lexi Malone had 10 kills out of the middle and Patty Kerman added eight kills on the outside. Sydny Dunn and Malia Yim ran the offense and delivered 20 and 16 assists, respectively. Kaylee Ivie led the team in blocks with five.
“Our blocking was pretty good,” McGolpin said. “We definitely did a good job with our defense, but again the leadership of the senior class was absolutely superb.”
The three matches at the tournament completes the nonconference part of the Warriors schedule. Their next match will be the Golden State Athletic Conference opener, Feb. 16 against Vanguard. ....

Patty Kerman's Hitting Leads Westmont Volleyball to Pair of Wins to Start Season | Sports

In its first competition since December of 2019, the Westmont women s volleyball team won two matches to start its COVID-19 delayed 2020 fall season at the Univerity of Katherine Tournament in San Marcos on Friday.
The Warriors opened with a four-set win over the tournament hosts (25-17, 25-19, 16-25, 25-14) and later swept Providence Christian (25-16, 25-12, 25-21).
“Overall, I’m super pleased with how match one went,” Westmont head coach Ruth McGolpin said. “Our defensive effort got better as the match progressed. We started to get a few more blocks and our digging got stronger as the match went on.” ....
