Fair season is on the way and tickets are now on sale for one of Maine’s oldest events: the Fryeburg Fair. Tickets are $12 for those 12 and older. The Wilton Blueberry Festival was called off because of concerns over coronavirus. According to CBS 13, Wilton Blueberry Festival Board chairman Shannon Smith says it was impossible to manage current COVID-19 restrictions in a public setting. Refunds will be issued to those who made contributions to the festival in 2020. Though that festival and several others are cancelled for a second year, organizers with the Fryeburg Fair announced this week that event will take place as planned this fall. ....

Maine children, ages 12 and up, are now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, after the U.S. FDA declared it safe and effective. Governor Mills is encouraging parents to get their children vaccinated, to help the state get back to normal. Police continue to investigate after a person cleaning out their deceased father’s Casco property found skeletal remains in an outbuilding. The father who lived at the property, 82-year-old Douglas Scott, died earlier this year. Officials say identifying the remains and determining cause of death will likely take several weeks. ....
