Makkah governor inspects progress of ongoing government projects in Jeddah


JEDDAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on Sunday inspected ongoing projects in the city of Jeddah, with a total cost of SR2.5 billion ($666 million).
Accompanied by Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed, the prince was briefed by the projects’ supervisors on progress, completion rates and dates of the projects.
The inspection tour started at the Jeddah Dome project, the largest spherical dome in the world, occupying ​​308,000 square meters.
The dome will host all local and international exhibitions, conferences, and events. The hall spans 34,618 square meters and its height is 46 meters. The project’s parking area can accommodate 5,200 vehicles.
His tour also included a visit to the Prince Majed Park development project, which occupies 120,000 square meters and is 82 percent complete. The park includes a 900-square-meter walkway and a children’s play area exceeding 9,000 square meters. ....

JEDDAH: Twelve Arab projects have been selected for development at the Red Sea Lodge 2021, the Red Sea Film Festival announced on Thursday.
Six of the projects are from Saudi Arabia while the rest come from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
The 12 filmmaking teams will gather virtually four times, then come together in person in Jeddah for the inaugural Red Sea International Film Festival. Half of the projects feature women in the roles of directors and producers.
The teams will pitch their vision to international production companies, with two lucky teams being granted $100,000 by an independent jury of experts. The winning movies will premiere at the festival, which is scheduled to take place in 2022. ....
