15 nonprofits share $150,000 in vaccine incentive grants

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Fifteen more nonprofits in Rhode Island have each been awarded $10,000 as a part of the state s vaccine incentive program, which releases the awards as more residents get vaccinated, Gov. Daniel McKee announced Tuesday.
The RI Gives Vax Challenge launched last month awards grants to nonprofits that have been on the front lines of the pandemic response for every 5,000 people in the state who get a first dose of a vaccine.
15,000 first doses have been administered since the program was announced, the state Department of Health said.
“It takes a team to get the job done, and Rhode Island is lucky to have so many nonprofits stepping up to keep us safe, support vaccination efforts and help those in need,” the Democratic governor said in a statement. “Over the last few weeks, we continue to see increases in demand for vaccinations that’s great news for our collecti ....
