Mangaluru, Jan 29: A day after BJP-led Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) presented a budget for the year 2021-22, Congress councillors on Friday January 29 termed the budget as anti-people and said that it increased burden on public.
Addressing the a press meet here at Congress Bhavan, leader of opposition in the council Abdul Rauf said, Though people are facing financial uncertainty, following the Covid-19 pandemic, the budget tabled by the ruling party for the year 2021-22, has proposed increase in property tax, water tax and trade licence fee and cess on solid waste management. This will put people in trouble and financial burden. This budget is not people friendly, instead it is anti-people. ....

Mangaluru, Jan 26: For the year 2021-22, Mangaluru City Corporation presented a surplus budget, with the opening balance of Rs 283.53, an income of Rs 609.92 crore and with total expected income of Rs 893.45, the total expected expenditure will be Rs 576 crore and the expected final balance is Rs 317.18 crore.
Mangaluru City Corporation chairperson (MCC), standing committee on taxation, finance and appeals, Kiran Kumar presented the budget for the year 2021-22. Kiran Kumar said, The vision of 2021-22 budget will be on additional importance for nature and water conservation, emphasis on hygiene and cleanliness, special importance for welfare, health and education sectors, importance to complete the pending developmental works and priority will be given to administration and economic improvement. ....

MANGALURU: Following strong objections from corporators from Congress and the BJP against traffic cops towing cars in the city, the council meeting of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) chaired by mayor Diwakar resolved to convene a meeting involving Mangaluru City Traffic Police on January 11.
Police officials of assistant commissioner of police (ACP) and above ranks will be invited to discuss the issue of parking woes in the city. Corporators expressing their anger over the recent instance of traffic police towing a car with a child locked inside it, demanded that the towing should be stopped immediately till provisions are made for people to park vehicles in the city. ....
