Punch Newspapers Sections Friday Olokor, Abuja Friday Olokor, Abuja Published 12 March 2021 The 36 states in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory have not accessed N41.06 billion matching grant in the coffers of the Universal Basic Education Commission as of March 2021, its Executive Secretary, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, has said. According to him, about N143 billion matching grant is accessed by states and FCT from 2017 to 2020, out of the N184.8 billion that was made available by the commission. Bobboyi stated these during an oversight visit by the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education. He said no state had accessed the 2020 matching grant, adding that only Ogun State was yet to access its 2018 allocations while 10 states had not also taken delivery of their 2019 grants as of March 8, 2020. ....

The Executive Chairman of FCT-IRS, Mr Abdulahi Attah, disclosed this while speaking on some innovations the agency had put in place to improve the system of tax administration in the territory on Monday in Abuja. x Attah, who said that the consultants were employed with the approval of Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), added that the years of back duty taxes would be between 2015 and 2020. According to him, the law requires taxable persons and organisations to file their annual returns on or before the end of March. ....
