rd of March was life tumbling for Suman, Sarla and Anita, and their families, residents of Basai village in Alwar district of Rajasthan.
That morning Suman’s contractor told her that the factory, where she worked in a nearby town, is closing and she is being laid off for the same. Not only her previous daily wages were denied but the future seemed even darker. Suman, a widower and a mother of two girls, recalls that she had just twenty rupees in her knotted torn cloth using which she was supposed to get vegetables for the family in the evening. But, knowing she has lost her only source of income, she went home empty handed and the only thing which was full was ....

Every Indian Wastes 50 Kgs Of Food A year, Says UNEP
Apart from households, retail and food services account for a huge chunk of this annual waste of food, says the Food Waste Index Report 2021
Despite adequate production, dearth of food still prevails in a shockingly huge part of the world. Millions of people, mostly women and children, are going to bed hungry every night owing to a massive shortage of consumable food.
According to the Food Waste Index Report 2021 published by the United Nations Environment Project (UNEP), nearly one third of the total quantity of produced food each year is wasted during the various steps of the food supply system, making it a leading concern for all nations, across income ranges. ....

Ambesari is in a tribal-dominated area. The village is primarily inhabited by tribal groups of Gonds and Kolam. My wife and I both work as farm labourers. I studied only until the 12th grade, and my wife ended her studies just before the 10th grade. Nothing is more valuable to us than our children s health”, he says. ....
