Bor citizens demand services ahead of President Kiir s visit Citizens in the Jonglei State capital, Bor town, are demanding better services as they expect the arrival of President Salva Kiir later this afternoon. Earlier this morning, the state government announced President Kiir’s visit slated for this afternoon and urged the locals to turn out in their thousands to receive the head of the state. Several Bor residents told Radio Tamazuj that they expect the president to provide services and acquaint himself with the challenges facing the civil population. One Bor resident, Aluel Kut, said, “As the whole country knows, we have been affected by the floods. So we want our president to help in the construction of the dykes.” ....

The residents there welcomed the resumption, saying they will now have their grievances settled. Justice John Yel Aleu, the President of the High Court in Jonglei, told Radio Tamazuj Monday that the operations started last month after floodwaters receded in the town. He pointed out that court proceedings have been ongoing unhindered since they started. “Work at the High Court started over a month ago. We are now operating normally. Floodwaters in parts of the town have receded,” he said. ....

Patinkin/VOA) Police in Bor town of Jonglei State said they have arrested a man for allegedly triggering a fracas during a wrestling match in Bor over the weekend. On Sunday evening more than 10 people were injured in a brawl following a misunderstanding that erupted during a wrestling match. The wrestling contest was between the communities of Gwala and Pathyouth of Bor County. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the state police spokesperson, Lt. Colonel John Mawut Ngang, said calm was immediately restored after the incident and that one man is being investigated for starting the fight. ....
Photo Credit: ACNS Archbishop Justin Badi Arama, the Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) has rejected a high court ruling over the ongoing leadership dispute in Jonglei describing it as a wrong decision. ECSS split following the August defrocking of Bishop Reuben Akurdit of the church’s Jonglei internal province by Archbishop Badi. One camp welcomed the defrocking, while the other insisted the defrocking over alleged canonical disobedience and misconduct was nonprocedural. The Akurdit camp went to the High Court in Juba to challenge his removal. In the last two weeks, the Juba court urged the ECSS to stay the defrocking and appointment of any successors pending a final verdict on 5th January 2020. ....
