WHEN it comes to investigating alleged unethical, unlawful or criminal conduct by police, one can seek justice via the Police Complaints Division (PCD) or the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB).
Both are units of the TT Police Service (TTPS). PCA to look into pensioner's Grande police complaint

THE POLICE Complaints Authority (PCA) will investigate a pensioner s complaint about Sangre Grande police, who he said failed to help him after a year of alleged abuse and threats from a close male relative, which he reported at least four times.
Newsday has seen a copy of the PCA s letter to Ramesh Hazare, saying his report had been assessed and indeed fell within its jurisdiction.
Hazare went to the PCA a week ago, as a last resort, complaining that since last January, he had reported to Sangre Grande police that the relative was threatening him.
The threats escalated, he said, and once the relative held a pellet gun to his head. Another time, the man set fire to his bed while he slept, in an attempt to permanently chase him from his house at Ramoutar Street Extension, Sangre Grande. ....

Grande pensioner seeks PCA help after police inaction

A SANGRE GRANDE pensioner has reached a dead end in trying to get police protection from a close male relative who he says has assaulted him and made repeated death threats to him.
Ramesh Hazare, 66, has been trying for over a year to get police to charge the man.
Now he has sought help from the
(PCA), but the PCA, an independent civilian oversight body, was not able to offer Hazare the protection he requested.
Last Friday, Hazare went to the PCA to complain that he had made four reports to the Sangre Grande Police Station about incidents of abuse over the past year, with no redress. ....
