Police confirm officer fatally strikes teen cyclist
MOLINE, Illinois (Quad-City Times) A Moline police officer was involved in a fatal crash that killed a 13-year-old male Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Moline Police Department, at approximately 2:52 p.m., a beat officer was dispatched to a disturbance near 41st Street and 12th Avenue. The officer was traveling southbound in the 1100 block of 34th Street when the squad car struck the victim on a bicycle just south of 11th Avenue.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. The child was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Moline Police Department immediately requested the Illinois State Police to respond to the scene and blocked off the area to motorists.

Members of the Moline Police Department are investigating several an incident involving several members of the local high school football team. Video shows members of the football team shouting and threatening a Black player until he sits in a locker that is seemingly full of banana peels. One student can even be heard saying that he ll break the student s knees if he doesn t get in the locker.
Video of the violent encounter was shared online last Thursday and began circulating throughout the northwest Illinois community shortly thereafter. The team traveled to play an away game on Friday and arrived back at the school shortly after midnight. MOLINE, Ill. A Black football player at an Illinois high school captured on video sitting in a locker littered with banana peels after a teammate threatened to break his knees if he didn’t comply says he’s “fine” and wants people to “stop talking about the incident.”
The Moline High School student, who was not identified because he’s a juvenile, also said in a statement released through the Rock Island County State’s Attorney’s Office that those football team members involved in the incident have apologized, Davenport, Iowa, television station KWQC-TV reported.
