Pullman City Council did not ban or delay this year’s 4th of July Celebration after an hours-long discussion during their special council meeting Friday.
Councilman Nathan Weller proposed to delay this year’s celebration after receiving public concern about the dry weather. No action was taken on this item during the meeting. Banning personal firework use was also proposed during the meeting, but no action was taken on that item either.
The council did, however, unanimously vote to amend an ordinance, giving authority to local fire districts to place a temporary ban on firework use. Although, the amendment will not take effect until next year.
