Nana Addo's 'irredeemably corrupt' gov't handled MPs double salary scandal - Martin Amidu

In a statement to react to claims on Accra-based Oman FM and a publication by the Daily Guide Newspaper to the effect that he [Amidu] was in charge of prosecuting the MPs found culpable of taking double salaries but failed to prosecute them before leaving office, he described the allegation as a politically-inspired propaganda against my integrity, which sought to link my resignation to the failure or refusal of this irredeemably corrupt government for four whole years to deal with the simple offence of double salary or stealing (as the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service put it), are false, infantile and barefaced lies intentionally concocted and put out by the Office of the Attorney General to the unsuspecting public under the sub-heading Godfred Yeboah-Dame . ....

Martin Amidu On MPs' Double Salary Case | Politics

The former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has denied media reports that his failure to investigate some National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs for allegedly taking double salaries led to his resignation in 2020.
Describing the reports as “barefaced lies”, Amidu is pointing fingers at the current Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame, as being behind what he describes as “politically inspired propaganda” to tarnish his image.
In a six-page statement to the media, Amidu said the case was never referred to him while in office, adding “any experienced and ethical person who has ever occupied the office of Deputy Minister of Justice under the Constitution knows that the Attorney General never sends a docket to another independent investigatory or prosecutorial agency without a covering letter.” ....
