The Boston firefighters union on Monday endorsed Councilor Annissa Essaibi Georgeâs campaign for mayor. The union s nod comes two weeks after retired Police Commissioner William Gross endorsed her, suggesting Essaibi George s emerging status as the choice of Boston s public safety workers.
âCouncilor George has a long track record of standing with Boston firefighters and their families,â said John Soares, International Association of Firefighters Local 718 president, announcing the unionâs support. âThat is why we re standing with her today, tomorrow and in November when she becomes mayor of this city.â

BOSTON (AP) Former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh was aware of decades-old domestic violence allegations against the city’s now embattled top cop before picking him to lead the department, the police commissioner’s predecessor told a court this week.
The statement came in a case brought by Dennis White, who is urging a court to block the city from firing him as police commissioner after placing him on leave in February. A judge heard arguments in the case on Thursday but didn’t immediately issue a ruling.
