Covid Scotland: Next step in memorial campaign is welcomed as anniversary is marked

THEY are the personal accounts, innermost thoughts and feelings of people trying to come to terms with how the pandemic has affected them.
The anonymous refrains could be from a bereaved relative, someone coping with the effects ‘long covid’ or those grieving the loss of a future or hope.
The theme of I Remember is how artist Alec Finlay, appointed to help create Scotland s covid memorial, will reach out to people and an approach which was today welcomed.

Scotland's covid memorial campaign appoints artist to work on historic project

ITS intention was to create a place for people to remember and reflect following the loss of loved ones to covid and for those affected by the pandemic.
Twelve months on since The Herald initiated and led the campaign for a memorial sadly many more lives have been lost to the virus which also left people with the effects of long covid.
Our hope was to bring people together whether they had been bereaved, were recovering from the virus or simply needed time to come to terms with adapting to life during unprecedented circumstances.
We recognised a need to involve and include people which is why we wanted to commission an artist to lead a research and engagement process to help create a fitting tribute which could go on to have ripple affect across Scotland. ....

Virtual Kiltwalkers step up to raise record amount for vital charities

IT has been a time when charities have been hit hard with a loss of income and traditional routes to raise funds cut off during months of lockdown.
However, despite restrictions one event found a way to adapt and help people raise vital funds for their chosen charities.
More than 10,000 people completed the second Virtual Kiltwalk event and following the latest one, more than £6million has been raised.
