Prayers against insecurity dominate Sallah as Nigerians celebrate Kabir The Punch

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Tuesday joined his kinsmen in Daura, Katsina State to observe the Eid-El- Kabir prayers.
The event took place at the Kofar Arewa Prayer ground and was led by the Chief Imam of the town, Alhaji Safiyanu Yusuf.
President Buhari dressed in a Skye blue flowing robe, arrived the prayer ground at 10am in a black limousine.
The prayers started immediately thereafter.
The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruq who had earlier arrived at the prayer ground, offered prayers for the President and for Nigeria.

Former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima has thrown his weight behind the call for power shift to Southern Nigeria in 2023.
He said it was only proper for the North, especially the All Progressives Congress (APC), to allow power to shift to the South, insisting that there was a gentlemen’s agreement that power must oscillate between North and South at the formation of the ruling party.
Shettima, who is now a Senator representing Borno Central, made the call for a power shift in Abuja yesterday at the public presentation of a book titled: “Standing for the Truth with Courage”.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday raised alarm over frequent attacks on its offices nationwide, saying this could derail the 2023 general elections.
The alarm followed yesterday’s attack on its office in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
