Gas distribution rights nothing to celebrate about, only small portion of what Sarawak deserves, says PSB publicity secretary | Malaysia

Saturday, 17 Apr 2021 03:57 PM MYT Sarawak was handed over the control and management of gas distribution under Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016, to take effect on June 1 this year. Borneo Post Online pic Subscribe to our Telegram channel for the latest updates on news you need to know. KUCHING, April 17 There is nothing to celebrate about Sarawak gaining control and management of its gas distribution because it is ‘only a small portion’ compared to its major rights and privileges in petroleum, said Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) publicity secretary Liu Thian Leong. “With the enforcement of the Petroleum Development Act on Oct 1, 1974, Sarawak had lost the entire ownership in, and the exclusive rights, powers, liberties and privileges of exploring, exploiting, winning and obtaining petroleum whether onshore or offshore. We only get five per cent the rest goes to Petronas,” he said in a statement today.

Borneo Post Online pic Subscribe to our Telegram channel for the latest updates on news you need to know. KUCHING, April 15 It may sound ridiculous some 30 years ago for anyone to suggest building an airport in the middle of nowhere, like in the Betong Division, but with the potential the place has, it is now a necessity to bring its agricultural produce to a wider market, including overseas. Plans are afoot to build a short take-off and landing airport (Stolport) in Spaoh, one of the small towns in Betong, and last Saturday, Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg handed over the construction agreement document to the successful tender bidder for the project, D.A.L Keluarga Realty Cara Raya JV Sdn Bhd.
